This work is of docks in a small rural community called Bluerocks outside of Lunenburg Nova Scotia. This community shore line is spattered with private fish shacks and cottages. This is a place very familiar to the artist as she transformed one of these buildings in to a studio for several months living a secluded life style focusing on conveying her experiences there on to canvas. The location is serene, quiet and offers a simple way of life. This is conveyed in the work but doesn’t hide the rawness of this area, a place where the fog and cold can roll in any time unannounced and the sea and sharp rocks can be quite inhospitable and unforgiving.
