David McKay is an elected member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) and
also the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA). David served on the board of directors of
the Canada Council for the Arts in the years from 2012 to 2016.
After fifty years as a practising artist, David has been included in well over one hundred
exhibitions of his paintings within Canada and abroad. His first showing outside of New
Brunswick was in 1976 when he exhibited at the La Galerie Shayne in Montreal and the
Aggregation Gallery in Toronto. This was soon followed with showings at the Hollander
York Gallery in Toronto, Manuge Galleries in Halifax, The Gallery in Newfoundland and
Ferntree Gallery in Calgary.

Internationally, his work has been seen at the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris France,
the Boston International Art Fair and Canadian Media Marketplace in New York City.
David McKay's first award was a travel grant from the Canada Council for the Arts
in 1976. In 1986 he received a Creation Grant from artsNB. More recently he was
awarded the Senate 150 Anniversary Medal in 2018; the Fredericton Arts Achievement
Award in 2019 and the Society of Canadian Artists, Duggan Canadian Landscape
